Who Is The Hell Is Barrie J Davies?
I’m Barrie J Davies, a Brighton-based artist operating somewhere between Pop Art, Street Art, and a mildly unstable dimension where colour has been promoted beyond its station and is now running things without supervision.
I have an MA in Fine Art, which mainly trained me to stand in front of a painting that appears to be screaming, dissolving, and wearing a tiny hat all at once, and confidently declare: “Yes. This is about society.”
My studio is not a studio. It is a diplomatic incident between paint, chaos, and whatever keeps knocking on the door at 3am claiming to be “inspiration” but definitely isn’t filling out the correct paperwork.
I make surreal, psychedelic, bonkers artworks where pigeons are part-time philosophers, ducks run emotional support groups for inanimate objects, and everyday things quietly transform into louder, weirder versions of themselves when no one is looking. Especially kettles. Kettles are absolutely not to be trusted.
My work sits in the glowing overlap of street art, pop culture, graffiti, cartoons, and that moment your brain briefly leaves your skull to go “I’ll be back in five minutes” and returns with glitter, questions, and a minor identity crisis.
I share visual hallucinations disguised as creative process, behind-the-scenes transmissions from the studio vortex, fragmented artistic wisdom, and the occasional urgent bulletin about furniture behaving suspiciously.
If you’ve ever felt reality is slightly too sensible, the sky is probably buffering, and your thoughts have started speaking in neon…
Good news.
You’re not malfunctioning.
You’ve just tuned into the correct frequency.
